Wanderer on ever meandering paths from physics to politics between energy markets and IT addiction, but never without a couple of books to read on the train.

„We all need to read more Vonnegut.“ - my book-seller recently., after I bought another Vonnegut.

There are never enough shelves. Empty shelves are a book-attractor; I can just sit and watch them fill, form second rows and wedge books wherever they find some uninhabitated space.

Messiah sort of felt like an interlude to finish parts of the story and tidy up loose threads. Children started something new and exciting. I‘m looking forward for God Emperor. Just haven’t found the time yet.

If Villeneuve does the original Rama like he did Dune - that‘d be awesome. Full Ffocus on the science of the unknown and the exploration narrative.

Have a look at the Amazon reviews of the Rama sequels - pretty much 50/50 division between „love it“ and „hate it“

I have to admit that I have not read those yet - only half-way through Frank Herbert‘s canon.

The original Rendezvous with Rama is a true Masterpiece. The others are cheap attempts at sequels. Rama II is one of the few books I gave away because I could not put it in my library without feeling anger for wasting my time reading it.

Awesome book. Completely different to the Hitchhiker‘s Guide but classic Douglas Adams.
Features bits and pieces from Dr Who Shada and City of Death, which Adams wrote initially.

But with the advent of AI like ChatGPT, we revert from explicit programming to engineering prompts that instruct the machine using human language. Just like with Asimov’s robots.
For me this makes Asimov one of the greatest visionaries of all time.

But there’s a new aspect of the series that I find even more fascinating. Asimov’s robots require interaction, precise commands given in terms of human language. That’s quite a difference to the way computers were programmed at that time - honestly, who speaks assembly fluently?

The other new addiction I got was playing Windblown by @motiontwin.com -- Now I'm torn between solving murders and dying in the vortex.

Agreed. But we‘re not alone in this, and the other MS have completely different takes on energy policy. Most of the associations‘ activities consists of just keeping the bad ideas out of regulation.
