It ended up being a two-fer! The original reason was they kept getting stupid notes from the higher-ups, so it was a test to see if they'd given up on the dailies - they had. In-universe they wrote it as being a food source that could survive being air dropped into war torn locales.

I was there twice, once for LISA and another time for Dragoncon. The second time I begged for a lower floor room so I’d have less vertigo, the first time they put me up near the top because of some room scheduling snafu. Which was a great room but I was hugging the wall to the elevator ;p

I got an induction stove and needed a new outlet for it, BC Electric did the work and even came back when it turned out the outlet had to be moved down a bit so the stove could be flat against the wall - the original instructions had vague measurements.

If a soup is something that is a liquid dish, and it must be liquid, then no. Ramen can be had with broth or with just the seasoning and almost no liquid, much like (for example) Italian pasta and tomato sauce. If that's not soup then ramen isn't soup.

I cackled about the books to my cousin who still lives on the island, and to my husband who's heard me talk enough about growing up on the island that he got it by proxy. And yeah, when the results came in I was so hoping to be surprised. Oh well.

Could be worse - could be prosciutto and canteloupe in the summer. All gone, so sad, too bad.
