Early 90s. On my mom's bike going out on my paper route. See my crush's bike parked in a driveway near where I live. Craning my neck to get a glimpse of where she might be and coming to an abrupt halt via parked van. The frame on my mom's bike cracked - which I of course knew nothing about.

Shout Out til en E45 lidelsesfælle. Også jeg deltager i pendlergladiator-turneringen kaldet E45 classic.

WebRequest / WebResponse throwing for valid HTTP response codes is still my top 1 fuckup of all time out of Microsoft. Who the fuck thought throwing for a 404 was good design?

Exceptions are for exceptional situations. There is literally nothing exceptional about a 404 response. It's in the spec...

Exotic! Did not know they could still do that.

Wat? We're OK with calling them domestic ab-users? I will start immediately

Some users are stakeholders, some stakeholders are users. The way to tell which is which is by voice volume.

It's even worse. They had a majority on the left but decided on a center coalition instead, tanking the approval of all 3 parties involved.

Took me at least 2 tries to get it.

At first I read it like, Windows Power Shell. And yeah, who couldn't use a power shell once in a while?

But then the other interpretation dawned on me. I think you may be on to something.

Forever being defined as "as long as someone pays the electric bill at the data center".

We're less "forever" than basically everyone since the invention of cave paintings.

I laughed when in Vista (was it XP?) they introduced the progress bar control that was simply a looping green animation in the bar portion.

Sure, the solution to "can't figure out how long this takes based on data gathered already" is to just give up.

Love how it ejects to the sidewalk side.

Yeah. Any project that lives for a non-trivial amount of time ends up locked into deprecated junk.

Package: "We switched the corner-rounder package dep to rounder-fork2-3.1".

Dev: "Mkay. But now I have a hard dep on both line-drawer 1.0-1.0.1.1 and line-drawer >=2.1. "

P: "LOL. Sucks to be you"

The JavaScript Way™️: stdlib is published pulling in 800 other dependencies, among them incomprehensible garbage like color-picker-extreme-1.0-beta.2.

All so people can avoid the hassle of trying to add two numbers, that might be strings, but could be not? Definitely not undefined. Probably.

Yup. We lost access to all of our user data and the backend server due to our dependency on im-too-stupid-to-do-simple-math-0.1-beta.2 and its 11 critical severity CVEs that were discovered over 2 years ago.

But at least they didn't steal my lunch money.

Pyramid schemes fail because they're illegal, not because they don't work.
