We continue to fight for better standards in the injectables industry. @mfraserau.bsky.social and I will always advocate for patients over profits.

As far as I'm aware, RFG never apologised to brave whistleblowers like Devi Trimuryani, a small Michel's Patisserie owner who risked everything by speaking up.

We were proud to stand by all RFG franchisees and be a voice for them too. They deserved better and still deserve better.

12/12 - We advocate for patients to be properly informed of the risks (including in the advertising) and that their safety is the priority (not sales or social media videos and fame).

11/12 - Patients deserve to access treatments safely, and importantly free from judgement. This has never been about judging providers or patients.

10/12 - The independent nurses may be small businesses, but the industry is a high profit industry designed to drive insecurities in all of us. While you might feel you are immune to marketing tactics by this industry, young and vulnerable people are falling victim to it.

9/12 - Unfortunately as we’ve seen with the Cosmetic Cowboys scandals (which we researched and exposed), when profit is a strong driver, patient safety and outcomes suffer. We are seeing this in the injectables space as we are contacted by patients and concerned practitioners.

8/12 - If you are a practitioner working in our public healthcare system, I encourage you to watch training videos from these groups and count the amount of issues you spot that may compromise patient safety and outcomes. Start with basic hand hygiene.

7/12 - This space is profit driven with marketing and sales at the forefront. Don't take my word for it, read the documentation of nurse training groups and you will get the picture.

6/12 - Anecdotally, we have also heard that some nurses are seeking out nursing qualifications with the sole intention to move into the cosmetic space given the profits in the industry. I do not suggest that either of things are right or wrong, just that they both happen.

5/12 - If it is the case that hundreds of independent nurses in QLD have been (inadvertently or otherwise) breaking the law by purchasing Schedule 4 medicines, enforcement of that law doesn't create medical staff shortages in our healthcare system.

4/12 - If it is the case that hundreds of independent nurses in QLD have been (inadvertently or otherwise) breaking the law by purchasing Schedule 4 medicines, enforcement of that law doesn't create medical staff shortages in our healthcare system.

3/12 - The industry often gives the impression through their advertising that injectables are no more serious than applying a moisturiser or buying something over the counter, but to help provide context, they are scheduled the same as Codeine and Tramadol.

2/12 - It’s also important to note that cosmetic medicines like Botox and filler are actually Schedule 4 medicines.

9/9. What are your thoughts, am I being reasonable?

8/9. Did you know our body of work has spanned many industries and led to or directly influenced regulatory and legal changes in three industries?

I never did this work for attention or for recognition, but others taking credit and collecting the pay day is a stretch too far.

7/9. Some of the most respectful relationships we have had are with various regulators who are well aware of our work and engage with us in a meaningful way, despite the fact we don't always agree with the regulator's approach.

6/9. My colleague and I have a total of 0 awards for our work and no public acknowledgements from anyone who received them.

Not every relationship has been this way. There are many journalists, politicians and others that we have great rapport with.
January 3, 2025 at 8:57 AM
5/9. I am a little over journalists privately messaging us "this is your award too" but failing to mention us in their acceptance speeches, in their public statements or their social media posts. Erasing us and the work we did is frustrating and inaccurate.

4/9. I will never forget someone telling me their assignment was marked down because they referenced me as the person who exposed 7-Eleven and they were told that was incorrect. It demonstrated how impactful to the history of events it is to have others reimagining the events that took place.
