Unexpectedly saw 3 bald eagles the other day chasing each other. I estimated them to be at least 2,000ft away by the time I took this shot with my 600mm lens. #baldeagle #birds

Next time you see a robin on your lawn, observe how it listens to the ground. Canadian biologists found that robins can hear worms moving beneath the soil. They confirmed this by testing sensory cues.

Birds mimic for mating, using complex songs to show fitness. Some species also mimic to deceive rivals or predators, stealing food or scaring threats. Male lyrebirds even manipulate mates during copulation by triggering a "freeze" response with alarm calls. (The Bird Way by J. Ackerman, pg. 79-86)

Smaller birds like tits and nuthatches can fight off larger birds like owls and hawks by mobbing them. It may also be used to teach young birds to identify predators, scientists opined.

Birds don't fart because, according to Mark Murray, a vet at the Monterey Aquarium, they lack the gas-producing bacteria in their guts like humans and other mammals, so no gas buildup occurs, and their digestive system can't trap any if it did.

Double-crested cormorants’ “feathers are not waterproof and they need to dry their wings after spending time in the water.”

Osprey took flight. This #bird can catch prey (mostly fish) up to 2kg. If they cannot find fish, they go after small animals.
