You will be disrespected by people who envy your ability to be authentic. You will be dismissed by people who fear your strength in how you address your pain. You will be critiqued by oppressors as you find the things that set you free. It’s your life. Don’t slow down for them.

I keep thinking about how @chenoweth.bsky.social said the two most useful emotions for effective resisters are hope AND anger. When I find myself getting really angry, I try to remember that is a valid and helpful emotion as long as it prompts me to action, rather than cynicism.

After abuse, we end up asking so little from life. We get stuck in those memories, & see ourselves as a burden for not adapting better. We shrink our requests for change, pleasure, hope-yet we’ve already paid for someone else’s actions. Please go live. Ask for more. Be free.

Imagine this: On the evening of March 8, you and your spouse unlock the door to your apartment building. As you step inside, two men—not in uniform—push their way in behind you. They tell you your visa has been revoked and that they are there to deport you.
