Thrilled to be published in Backstory, a Swinburne Uni journal "with a loose theme of history." I love a loose theme of history! Inspired by Kosmos (an installation by Eva Rothschild) & the Avoca landscape. 📷 :me

“He paused, his work on the bedroom chimney finished, & looked out to sea. Something was moving out there. Something grey & white amongst the breakers.”
- Daphne du Maurier.

Saw ‘The Birds’ at Malthouse #Theatre. Inspired me to read the original story for 1st time. Both different but great.

It’s the International Year of Visual Metaphors. It kicked off when a Tesla cybertruck was driven into Trump towers in early January (before orange guy & billionaire friends took office)

Although it’s about beavers, not otters, this made me think of the beginning of a favourite short essay by Amy Leach: “In Which the River Makes Off with Three Stationary Characters.”

1-week holiday over, back at work tomorrow, boohoo! Here’s the sun setting from Griffith Island, #PortFairy on Sunday night. (It looked beautiful but I fear some cloud cover might have been due to bushfires to the North & South-east.)

2 #books read since Christmas Eve - “We All Lived in Bondi Then” by Georgia Blain & “Theory & Practice” by Michelle de Kretser, both #Aussie #writers Both books were great, & accidentally complementary, since both are #fiction that feels a lot like #memoir, set in similar times & places.
