All lines currently running as expected on #WMATA this weekend, barring scheduled trackwork (NoMa station is closed). Some bus routes will likely have delays through DC due to the protests.

FYI, friends using MetroAlerts - because of the bus network redesign, any bus alerts you previously were signed up for *no longer will alert you*. You need to go back to https://wmata.com/service/status/metroalerts.cfm and sign back up.

"environmental impacts" is not the primary need to clean up hydraulic fluid spills - the fluid, when on the top of rails, can cause trains to not be able to brake properly, which could be a significant safety hazard.

The source of the hydraulic fluid spill (detected from Mt. Vernon Sq to Fort Totten and also on the Red Line from Fort Totten to Brentwood Yard) is PM63, the broken-down track unit which #WMATA reported was @ Southern Ave. The unit was towed to Branch Ave rail yard.

At approximately 4am, #WMATA track crews began responding to a hydraulic fluid spill which was originally identified around Mt. Vernon Sq (YL/GR) on the southbound tracks. Crews walked the tracks and found fluid on the left rail from Gallery Pl up to Columbia Heights.

#WMATA is beginning to commence single-tracking between Hyattsville Crossing and Georgia Ave due to report of an arcing insulator outside Fort Totten.

#WMATA is allowing train 505 to proceed through the area, with its EV off, but with passengers onboard.

An arcing insulator can potentially cause smoke and/or fire.
