Software developer (game and business software), with the love of my life since 32 years, Sci-Fi lover, dog and cat owner
My day to day work consists of maintaining an engineering CAD software for pressure vessels. Constructs are validated by ASME, EN and others.

I'm updating it to the latest ruleset. NEVER let mathematicians touch code. They *optimize* formulas you'll never find again in the rulebooks.

I like data-driven game configuration. If possible, I put as much information as possible into ScriptableObjects (Unity) and fetch the data as needed.

So today's work was to create the needed data structures for weapons, armor, shields and ships. Luckily, Odin helps creating the editors.

Since I like game where you can configure your vehicle through modules, the game I'm currently working on makes extensive usage of this feature.

Imagine a space shooter game in top-down view where you select and configure your ship dependent on the game type you're playing. CTF + TDM are different.

I'm a huge fan of games where players can configure their vehicles in a limited way. The choice of having more fire power or more armor and hull creates a natural balance between play style and needs.

First game I played this way was Tanarus ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanarus... ).

Update from my game project: The last couple of days I've spend a lot of time fleshing out the game design document and the plans that would drive me forward for this project.

The theme is selected, the base context is set and some important, must-have features have been selected.

Unity has yet another loss of $127 million in the last quarter (www.gamesindustry.biz/unity-report...).

How is Unity still alive when losing so much money quarter after quarter???
Unity reports modest gains in revenue for Q3 2025 as Unity 6 approaches 10 million downloads
Unity has published its financial results for the third quarter of its fiscal year, seeing modest but better-than-expec…

[2/2] highly complicated stuff (finite element calculations, pressure vessels CAD software).

Ah yes, I'm also working on several side projects:

- A table top game (testing and fine tune phase)
- A multiplayer space shooter game (early stages)
- A QR code online service (almost done)

So... I think I should post here more often.

Who am I? A professional software developer with his own company (1 employee), ADHD, and much too many ideas.

Started my career as a game developer at Blue Byte (Settlers, Incubation, ...), switched to "serious" dev early 2000 and now do mostly [1/2]

Finally managed to return the correct license information with my new API and Blazor (7k binary encoded data). The transition was (almost) smooth considering that this is my first venture in Blazor and API creation. Managed to keep the same request path for backwards compatibility.

Infinite memory for AI will truly be a game changer. Many, many times I ran into limits of the current AIs because of the limit of information a discussion can contain. Also, switching forth and back in discussion is difficult.

TheAIGRID has summarized the upcoming changes.

ewriting an ancient server app from Ruby on Rails (really old version) to Blazor and .NET.

After nearly a decade with C#, diving into Blazor feels refreshingly intuitive. It's amazing how streamlined the transition has been!

2. Being a surgeon is harder than it looks on TV...
