From my understanding, the producer of the song used a prompt like “write a viral hit country song” as somewhat of a lark and lo, the market was ready to be manipulated.

I guess what I mean is there’s pandering in the sense of writing something to target/entertain a particular audience and then there’s pandering used as a manipulation tactic.
