Today we said goodbye to Kito, who we've had for 17 years. He'd been struggling with a mass in his chest and got to the point where even aggressive palliative care wasn't enough, so we had to let him go.

The subtle stress on 'combat' prompts a rush of amusement; Ilya certainly had plenty of ways to derail thing without involving bodily harm to himself.

And maybe he'd be willing to tell, if you asked him just right." I have absolutely no idea what Ilya might be insinuating, but I do know I can feel the ghost of every exhale and I'm about two seconds away from seeing if I'm physical enough to smack him. As if reading my mind, he swiftly removes himself from my personal space, sporting his usual cheshire grin. Annoying. Z: "Hey!" Both Ilya and I snap to Zev, sitting across from us. He's pinch-faced, manspread, arms folded over his chest. Z: "No molesting invisiboy! I wanted to be first!"
