Stones old and new today.
The West Anstey Long Stone, Exmoor.
Half of a 2004 sculpture on the Two Moors Way. A huge piece of granite, half on the edge of Exmoor (shown here), the other on the edge of Dartmoor. Facing each other across mid Devon.

Wednesday this week we took a trip to Lundy Island on the magnificent Waverley, the world’s last sea going paddle steamer. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and we saw dolphins.

A strange thing happened to me in the 80s and I’m hoping that social media can give me some information about what happened.
I was too young at the time to bother about the details or record anything for posterity, but now would like to know more.

I don’t know anything about this wooden box my parents had before I was born (so at least 56 years ago).
It seems very old and has the look of carvings that you see in medieval churches.

The aptly named Dog Vomit Slime Mold (Fuligo septica).
In Scandinavian folklore, it is viewed as the vomit of troll cats.
