Yes and no. Back then we had Bottle of Suleiman, Amulet of Quoz, Camouflage, and Animate Dead, where the raw word count on text-heavy cards far outstrips the streamlined text of the game today. But vanilla cards basically don't exist anymore, so the average is way up.
