While the percent of EVs sold in the US will go down in 2026 because of Trump Administration eliminating incentives, the percent of the vehicle fleet on the road that is EV will still increase.

The reason is that even this somewhat smaller percent of EVs sold in 2026 will be a higher.....

Grid bottlenecks aren’t a failure of the energy transition — they’re proof it’s working.

Renewables got cheap fast, and now the grid has to catch up. Time to build the wires for the clean energy system we already have.

Thread:

One reason for residential PV/battery is that they incentivize electrification. Why pay for gas when you can use your own electric power, almost always more cost-effectively than selling to the grid.

Balcony solar is somewhat harder to fit into this because....

Seems like a pretty good plan for places that are cold, even if it's just a few months of the year.

Data centres are energy hungry but what if we could use their waste heat to heat our homes?

That's exactly what happens in places like Finland: Cities are tapping the vast amounts of waste heat generated by data centres, and feeding it into district-heating networks.

Chart: EVs are ascendant — and gas cars are past their prime
Sales of gas-only vehicles are down by 31% from their peak, while electric vehicle sales are growing rapidly worldwide, largely due to China.

30% year-over-year drop in October isn't nearly as bad as I expected. Given that a bunch of EV sales were likely pushed into September to get the IRS credits, the damage from ending credits will be even less in a few months, and then sales will start picking up.
