Genealogist. Book Lover. Rock Painter. Bixby's Mom. Passion for bringing to life the stories of the women in my tree.
As a budget genealogist, I have ProTools now because there was a 6 month deal. But, I've canceled and resubbed a couple times since I don't need it every month. The FAQ seems to say some of the Network data would still be accessible, but not the network itself(?) 2/3

Happy Birthday to one of my favorite photographers, Ansel Adams. Born in San Francisco, CA in 1902, died in Monterey, CA in 1994.

My grandpa told my dad that he left France in 1907 so he wouldn't have to serve in the military. When French military records went online, I was surprised to find a record for Grandpa.

I couldn't make sense of it so a French cousin helped me out. #genealogy

He's going to ask to see the manager next.

Do you use Google Books for #genealogy? This is where I find language dictionaries for the time period I am researching in. Spelling and meaning change. It's useful to refer to a dictionary written at the time the record was made.

These are just a couple Portuguese dictionaries on Google Books.

I came across William Tolladay Steader about a year ago. William rescued a boy from drowning at 11. A second rescue as an adult in the Wisbech lead to a job offer. As a customs office, he worked near the water and he rescued 98 people over his career.

I love looking at photos and comparing faces. Marguerite is my gr grandmother and these are her daughters. I'm fascinated at how the daughters changed over the years. #genealogy

Bixby has been with me over 3 months now. I am enjoying watching his personality shine through. He's lazy and affectionate. He has this quirk that he wants to sleep with his head behind your back. Not comfortable for either of us. 😂🐕 #dogs

I only get to watch about 4 Warriors games a season since I only have antennae TV. So, you think they could have won this game for me. Sigh.

I've spent 3 years figuring out descendants on my Jobson line (England) with little reward DNA match wise. Don't get many on this side. Excited that a new match is a high match to someone I already figured out. And, Bingo! His Reeves are in my tree! #Genealogy #GeneticGeneaogy

In one of those annoying twists of DNA match fate, it's looking like Annie Cole might be the daughter of Henry Cole and his 1st wife. His second wife is my connection. 😭More research to be done.

Frustrating DNA match #genealogy problem from Australia. William Bayne/Annie Cole are her grandparents according to her tree. I got excited because she had William connected to Charles Bayne/Caroline Bellars. Bellars are mine. More I looked at it, the more it didn't make sense though.

This is one of my fave photos. Taken ca 1915 in Monterey Co, CA, maybe in King City. Left to right are my great aunt, Maria (Pacheco) Correia, her 1st cousin Maria Gloria (Bonita) Medeiros, and her sis-in-law, Maria (Pavao) Souza.

I like the every day nature of it. #genealogy

#DNA #Genealogy can be very frustrating. I thought I had a Hayward hint but turned out to be another match that lines up with this Code (Coad)/Twamley couple in Wicklow, Ireland. 12 matches line up here. Not sure what to do except keep building and hope it hits Kelly/Dolan somewhere. Sigh.

Happy to get this as a gift and add it to my resources. But I am disappointed to see the authors completely overlook the Portuguese migration to Hawaii during the sugar plantation era 1878-abt 1918. Hawaii research before 1910 is different than US research. #genealogy

Season's Greetings! We always spent Christmas Eve at my grandparents house with cousins, but had to leave early as my dad had to work graveyard for Safeway's bread bakery. Bread baking never rest.

I can't believe this is the only pic of me and my grandma from all those celebrations. #genealogy

Happy Winter Solstice to all. Now bring on the longer days.

Dad was terrible at selecting Christmas trees. I suspect because he was a talker he'd get lost in convo with someone, then suddenly remember he was supposed to be home 2 hours earlier with a tree. He'd grab the closest tree and hurry home. This one is a contender for worst 😂#genealogy

I'm excited about AI record transcription especially of handwriting. But, FamilySearch's effort to machine transcribe the Azorean villages church record is not a good effort.

This is an example of a typical transcription of these collections. Yellow highlights are all errors. #genealogy 🧵1/5

This is how one things leads to another. After posting about my gr grandfather, I realized the address, 820 12th St, isn't in my notes. Off I went to see if it's still there.

Oakland Planning Dept zoning map says it was built in 1904/05. #genealogy

I don't want anyone to tell me how great it was in the good ol' days. This is my great grandfather. On the evening of 8 Apr 1906, he was beaten and robbed on his way home from the ferry from SF to Oakland.

Not a great month for him since the earthquake struck about 2 weeks later.
