Apparently the costume designer put characters in some new foam shoes with holes (Crocs) because she thought they were too cheap and ugly to ever catch on #HATM
OK, after this movie, I am never wearing clothes with any words on them ever again. #hatm

Someone bought/corrupted the FDA and the FCC?! Unlikely! #HATM

The White House/Cabinet scene was funnier when it wasn’t true 😩 #HATM

I feel like this experiment would not pass an IRB review #HATM

1) I think we need an Edith Wilson movie! I think Melanie Lynskey would be great in any kind of treatment (dramatic or satiric)
2) pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls with bacon and eggs #HATM
That brings us to tonight’s #HATM questions:
1) what president is most deserving of a new biopic and who would you cast?
2) and what’s on the menu at your home tonight?

I’m not sure, but it was probably Indiana Jones for me #HATM
Was anybody else here first introduced to Nazis through Rolfe in Sound of Music?

I mean, even as a little kid, I realized something was not right in the head with these guys. #hatm

I remember Arvid’s death the most. Very visually striking, for one. But as someone who was lucky to be healed from a disability similar to his, I have never forgotten what he was willing to do #HATM

They were pros by this point! Both had been in his Shakespeare movies, or RSL was *about* to be #HATM
okay but can we talk about Robert Sean Leonard and Christian Bale having to act with

KENNETH FUCKING BRANAGH

for this? I would have been scared shitless. #hatm

Barbara Hershey can get it #HATM
God everyone wants Peter’s mom #hatm

Also, who is this movie for? So many of us saw it as tweens and teenagers, and it’s plenty political for that age group #HATM
Doesn’t strike me as “peculiar” given the ages of the Kids. Where Ebert sees murkiness I see realism. #HATM

I’m not liking it because he’s doing that man thing where they overexplain to a woman instead of letting her organically enjoy the thing #HATM
the record store scene i think doesn't fit in this place in the movie. I just.. I've never liked it, it feels like filler.

He has history with them! Both were in films he directed. Bale was in Henry V, and RSL was in Much Ado #HATM
Not sure if it's true but in prepping for this I read that Branagh refused to be listed (either in the cast or on the poster) b/c he was worried he'd been given top billing over the boys. #HATM
What?! Kenneth Branagh?! Definitely didn’t know who he was the last time I watched #HATM

1) I don’t know that I listened to anything “forbidden” but I did listen to a handmade Cranberries tape to avoid talking to people at the bus stop
2( As a non-historian, maybe another movie? Schindler’s List?
3) a toddler’s dinner of Kraft Mac and chicken fingers #HATM
Tonight’s #HATM questions:
1 We start with/ teens drawn to forbidden music. What were you secretly listening to as a teen?
2 This film was criticized for reducing Nazis to being anti-fun music. What’s your best history rec to learn about fascism?
3 What’s on the menu at your place tonight? #HATM

This was one of those movies that was all over HBO for awhile, and I watched it so many times. I really related to the disabled character because I was born with (since corrected) foot deformities. Swing Kids made me wonder what my life would be like if I was born in an earlier time #HATM
This Sunday, Historians At The Movies talks about Nazi Germany, resistance, and swing. Join us on Prime Video this Sunday, August 31 at 8pm eastern for SWING KIDS.

Keep #HATM dancing by sharing and we’ll see you soon!

This is not the point, but it isn’t even good concrete work! Why not add a decorative border? Use stained and stamped concrete? The family business was decorative concrete, and it’s sad to see how little anyone cared about making this space look special

Yeah, but don’t they share a mission of vengeance against the surface? Why else sink all those yachts? #HATM
Namor’s a jerk, tho. I feel like the whales would’ve ditched him by now. #HATM

I think it might end up being Smoke and Stack, at least for some time #HATM
Out of curiosity, what’s Michael B. Jordan’s signature role? Kilmonger, his take on Bryan Stevens, Oscar in Fruitvale Station, Adonis Creed, or Smoke and Stack? #hatm

Manor may have a point, but he also has crazy eyes, which kind of undercut that point #HATM

As the esteemed Taylor Swift once said, “Jet lag is a choice” #HATM
In Quantum of Solace, Bond flew from Italy to London, London to Haiti, then to Bregenz, Austria, then to Bolivia. Does he not suffer from jet lag???? #hatm

I’d be fine with AI Trevor Noah and only AI Trevor Noah #HATM
If AI was truly like Shuri's Griot, I would have a better opinion of it overall. Mostly. Maybe.

I love how much thought was put into the culture of Talokan. It may not be accurate to the comic but it is so specific and interesting. And it makes them fitting rivals for Wakanda #HATM

The Chadwick/Black Panther specific Marvel Studios logo is such a moving tribute #HATM

1) Tough call! I have such fond memories seeing The Avengers with friends. Iron Man might be most important, though, for setting the scene
2) Not sure, but @tressiemcphd.bsky.social came to mind first
3) pineapple and ginger chicken #HATM
And that brings us to tonight’s #HATM questions:
1) a two- for, what is your favorite MCU movie? And What MCU movie do you think is most important?
2)who are your “must follow” historians for Black History and race relations?
3) And finally, what is on the menu at your home tonight?
