It is devastating to lose Pope Francis at this moment in history, at a time when freedom, justice, and compassion are in peril. He was the embodiment of empathy, love, and humility, bringing hope to the dispossessed and the downtrodden. He brought heaven a little closer to us.

He won’t remember but I met Justin Trudeau years ago during our Vancouver days at a party for a mutual friend. He was inquisitive, interesting, and a gentleman.
It’s been a privilege to watch from afar as he grew into the leader he is today.

Just to remind everyone that Canada took in more than 200 planes and thousands of traumatized Americans on 9/11 when our friend and neighbour was under attack. Planes that could have been bombs. The sense of betrayal is real.
