Watched The Ballad of Wallis Island last night. Loved it. Both absurdly funny and heartbreakingly truthful. Strongly recommend.

Nye was brilliant. I did not expect to get so emotional. Michael Sheen gives a great performance.

Really impressed by 'The Siege' by Ben MacIntyre. A dramatic description of the six days of the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege.

I also realised that this is my first memory of an historical event.

Great performance by Kieran Culkin. He is a master at portraying characters with manic energy who are also immensely vulnerable.

Really interesting thematic history of Africa. Topics include female rulers, ancestor veneration and traditions of oral history. Enjoyed the links made to modern rap battles.

Really enjoyed 'The Life Impossible' by Matt Haig. His usual formula of an ordinary English life suddenly becoming confronted by a fantasy/Sci-fi experience.

Watched Civil War last night. Have been a fan of Alex Garland since he wrote The Beach. Great film, but left me unsettled that this might be a little too realistic.

A great read. The story of the affair between Asquith and Venetia Stanley during the First World War. It is jaw dropping that all the letters from Asquith and secret documents sent are genuine.

This was really gripping, based on a true story. Brooding cinematography of empty Idaho.
