I think it's good for someone to enjoy the gothic, horror, and recognize the influences that misogyny, racism, systemic violence, etc. have negatively had on the genre. it's also fine to not care for certain tropes. but the desire to purify the impure for what, aesthetic purposes? is mind-boggling.

I cannot recommend the Fall of Númenor audiobook enough: it is wonderfully performed and has brought me to tears several times, and the pronunciation which often erred in the Silmarillion audiobook has been perfect as far as I’m aware.
