Ask anyone that’s a multi generational Texan and I bet they have a story that involves the Eastland name in some fashion.. This has been such a difficult thing to process. Give us space. Give us grief. Nobody deserves tragedy, especially innocent kids.

Mother Nature can be a cruel beast. She knows no party lines, gerrymandered voting districts, etc. Yes, there should have been sirens in flash flood alley long ago. Texas politics are a bitch. Historically the Eastland last name carries major weight.. they have a whole county & town named Eastland.

I have so many deeply personal ties to this situation that being online has been difficult to say the least. I’m a true blue texan, but with that being said, I’m very disappointed with how some people have treated this. I felt the same way about Helene. Causing division does more harm than good.

Knowing that the creek I grew up swimming in catastrophically flooded on the day I would’ve been there enjoying a wonderful weekend is sickening. When it was flowing at its best, it was waist deep.. Just horrific.

I’ve seen the positive impact it’s had on knocking down some of the barriers associated with women seeking health care. It’s been truly rewarding to be apart of, and I’m so scared that the hard work we’ve done will reverse. Im scared that funding will be cut since we are in Tx. It’s heartbreaking.
