All war is bad. Civilians get hurt the most. Mostly children.
And shout out to everyone that thinks the military's most important mission is "war fighting" or doing shirtless pull ups🤡, instead of listening.

Today, Black US soldiers face a racist US leadership that is changing policies to try to force them out of the military.
If you're a navy SEAL and you get shot during combat, a corpsman fixes you up. A SEAL corpsman is like a cross between an EMT and trauma nurse.
Nigerian born Navy SEAL corpsman.

This type of attempted racist erasure doesn't even make sense in the digital era.
There were over 1 million Black US soldiers who fought in WW2. You can buy as many Twitters and newspapers and TV stations and remove as many plaques as you like. You can't hide all those stories.

Some things that are true:
* Black soldiers have served with distinction in every major US war
* Racist white people will always try to minimize the accomplishments of Black soldiers or erase them completely
"Double victory" describes Black soldiers' need to fight oppression abroad and at home

So of course, it is the same 761 unit that was among those prevented from celebrating the liberation of Paris that they were so instrumental in bringing about...
That was part of the force that liberated Netherlands, and whose dead are among those honored by the Dutch at the cemetery in Margraten.

These elite Black soldiers racked up victories.
But they weren't immortal, and they didn't have superior weapons to either the Germans or white American soldiers. They were just brave. Many Black soldiers died freeing Europe from the nazis.
Europeans were grateful.
Racist Americans? Not so much.

The 761st Tank Battalion was an all Black tank unit that served with distinction as part of Pattons 3rd army. They killed a lot of nazis, and liberated over 30 French towns, and much of the Netherlands.
If you saw their Black Panther logo? It was all over for you. Black Panther beats German Panzer.

The greatest call in higher education history:
A professor who had also read the US white nationalist plans to do a little Asian hate, even if it bankrupts US universities, saw that Trump had selected Stephen Miller to run immigration.🤦🏿♂️
So he insured his university against "sudden revenue loss!"🤯

Trump didn't make the 36% think like this. Trump was the closest thing to an electable person that vocalized the things that they already wanted to hear. Uncovered, not made.
This is Important because if Trump suddenly become anti-racist, the 36% would not follow him. The 36% would find a new Trump

Why is it that when oppressed folks beg for their lives it’s divisive, but “centrists” who are invested in the status quo are just fine???
Elie Wiesel (and Nelson Mandela and MLK Jr) said that the worst people are the moderates who let atrocities happen. WORSE than the ones committing the atrocity.

Facts!
If you're here to tell me "Don't split" when Schumer gets to Schumering, instead of telling Schumer "Don't Schumer!" Then I am 100% your Opp.
If you're here to try to sell Black people weak candidates that turn on us at the first chance, when better candidates exist? Then yes, I'm your Opp.

Y'all have gotten less than a year of what it's like to be the target of US fascism. I'm going on 40+ years of this.
The net drop in quality of life for a Black man that draws a lot of police attention because of his height and size 🙋🏿♂️under Biden and Trump, is not that much.
But for you? It's a lot

i.e., we don't do this weird "shutdown but keep everyone working unpaid" because that's chaotic and the decision makers have no reason not to shutdown; the resign/dissolution changes that to "if you can't pass a budget there are consequences immediately for you as a politician"

In Australia, if we can't pass a budget, the government must resign or call a double dissolution (dissolving both house & senate) for a complete reelection

No needy person has ever stolen food from a grocery store, I'm pretty sure. I've never seen it, at least, and nobody I know has either.

So I am supremely unqualified to speak on the sacrifices that "we" should continue to make, or to opine on the short term vs long term trade-offs.
Because "we" are not sacrificing.
If I wanted the shutdown to continue, I should have figured out a way to keep the people's pay, but stop the work.

I've never stolen food from a grocery store. Maybe that's because I'm a good person? But most likely that's because I've never needed to.
I haven't experienced the sting of having a full time job while knowing that I still can't pay rent or feed my kids.
I haven't lived that.

For everyone wondering what the solution is: how do you keep all the flights without paying the FAA employees? Simple. You don't. You cancel even more flights, or pay workers.
That's what "government shutdown" means.
Otherwise, it's just a "government pay down," for government employees.

And yes, we were headed for a major aviation incident if we didn't cancel even more flights or get FAA folks paid. Maybe we still are. 😢
