Mushroom Botherer 🍄📷 From Wales, based in South East UK

All photos taken by me, unless it's a repost! Some on my Canon DSLR, some on my phone.
Stinkhorn. Smelled it before I saw it! They really are quite stinky... Super fun to actually see one IRL though, despite the scent of rotting meat. I wish I'd had my nice camera with me, but alas, just a phone photo.

Trying to instil a love of spiders in my little ones has been a challenge against a backdrop of cultural fear of them, but I'm getting there I think! They're so beautiful and beneficial. Here's one of my most recent photos 🕷️🕸️

Underside of a Blushing Bracket. I love the shapes and patterns in the pores!

Look at those shiny wings! This is a flower fly, and it was very chill about letting me take it's photo.

One from summer. I got a super-macro lens and flash kit for my birthday, so spent some time in the deep, dark woods getting up close and personal with ferns!

Finally managed to get out to the woods after a very busy conference season at work, and I wasn't disappointed. Found this beautiful amanita hiding in my regular amanita spot :) it was quite dark, so had to try and rescue it in post. The cap was blushing pink #FungiFriends #WalkInTheWoods #Mushroom

It's flipping hot here today, and nothing captures quite how I feel as much as this common wallflower, wilting in the heat.

Happy #FungiFriday everyone! Loving this supremely witchy Amanita Fulva (Tawny Grisette) that I found power-posing on a tree stump in Sleepy Hollow. I've just found out that they're edible, although I don't normally mess with an Amanita.

I've been walking in the woods every morning for the past couple of months, and I'm really valuing how much it's changed me - being consistent, getting exercise, surrounding myself with nature. It can be hard to fit it all in with kids and work, but it's been so worth doing. Spotted a Jay earlier!

Here for #ThickTrunkTuesday with the bark on this tree. Just look at it. Mesmerising.

Happy #FungiFriday, mushroom botherers 🍄 this gorgeous little guy (Magpie Inkcap) has been nibbled on, but he still looks ever so charming popping up out of the leaves like that.

This was one of the pics in my first ever post

So romantic 🥹 As a Moss, representing the Moss name, I can confirm that - as well as mushrooms - I do also love moss. There are some stunning mosses out there. So fluffy and squishy. I keep trying to propagate it in the lines between the paving slabs in my garden: no luck yet!

Hey #FungiFriends! I found this yummy chanterelle, along with a huge number of others, in a location that I refuse to disclose just in case 😂 we've picked a basket full of these every summer for the last four years, and eaten them all buttery on their own. Splendid.

One of two Chicken of the Woods I've found so far. It was in a super-high-traffic area (perfect dog pee height) so I left it where it was 😆 The other one I found was too high up to reach, otherwise I'd have probably harvested some. Apparently is good eating.

This was a genuinely magical moment in the Lake District: bumbling about not expecting to see any mushrooms but, lo! A gorgeous orange Deceiver prancing about the moss next to a tiny, babbling rivulet. I spent ages on this photo, much to my family's boredom.

Showing up this week for #ThickTrunkTuesday with a beautiful, ancient Yew from Kingley Vale nr Chichester in the South of England. I'm utterly besotted with the bark on these glorious trees. Have included a husband for scale (he's 6'5", so yeah it's huge). You can eat the berries but not the seeds!

Hello #FungiFriends! Today's offering is (I'm pretty sure) Tricholomopsis Rutilans, or 'plums and custard'. Sounds yummy, but in actual fact it really isn't. I found this one in my favourite place, Angmering Park Estate 🍄🍂

This isn't a mushroom, Meg. What on earth is it?!

Glad you asked. I'm not 100% sure, but I /think/ it's either some kind of slime mold or mycelium. I tried doing a reverse image search but no joy. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know!

Hello #FungiFriends 🍄 is there a #WoodlandWednesday tag? I took this photo in some of my favourite woods for mushrooms near us - Angmering Park Estate. It's been the location of many of my favourite finds, including the magpie inkcap that was part of my first post.

Having to go into London today, but wishing for the woods instead. Here's a photo I'm very proud of - the contrast where the sun hits the moss in an otherwise dark and gloomy woodland is really cool. If you look carefully in the dark bit you can see a sneaky little fly 🪰

My kids had a sleepover at their grandparents last night, and I really miss them today! So here's a photo of a mummy mushroom and her LBM to soothe my sad little heart ❤️🍄 LBM = little baby mushroom, of course.
