If my feelings were a picture.

I dreamt of a metallic blue stag beetle last night. I had lost them, and then I found them again when they fell from some cloth. They were miffed at me for losing them.

So now I’m painting a blue stag beetle.

Organizing can look like a lot of things. Care, solidarity, mutual aid, knowing rights, building community relationships, coordinating and sharing resources, leveraging privilege to protect others, engaging art….

The solar system is set to see all the planets align tomorrow, which had me thinking about this Dark Crystal clip.

Seeing reports that Tahlequah (J35), is again carrying a deceased calf. I painted this in 2018 after she carried the body of her little one for 17 days.

Grief is a personal and difficult journey that many species navigate.

I’m working on a series of systems & complexity thinking drawings for a project.

This is a messy, disjointed iteration as I explore pathways for understanding & visualization.

Art is central to planting seeds of what is possible beyond what currently is.

When I have down time, I dream about and paint little microcosms amid macrocosms.

Here's a little wayfaring ten stripped June Beetle, complete with working wind turbine.

I love exploring climate concepts through art. This one is an exploration of Dr Sawin’s (@bethsawin.bsky.social) lens of #multisolving.

#Climatechange communication through #art is so important, because we don’t always have the language or words to reach into the core of what guides us 🍄‍🟫

The other 3 wheels.

The idea with this series is to have interactive #climateart visuals—e.g. weave together your own wheel—to explore care-based #climateaction across different levels and issues given unique contexts/needs.

Nothing groundbreaking, just interactive explorations.

Last of my #climate care action wheel series on system, collective, individual & inward action.

Deep & collective care, holding space/time for inner health, strength, dignity is an essential part of navigating degrading systems of colonial, capitalist, neoliberal patriarchy, white supremacy etc.

As #COP29 and the planet heat up—both due to fossil fuel relationships—It’s important to spotlight the massive scope of #publichealth harm as a result of ongoing & inequitable fossil fuel emissions creation & work to shift fossil fuel subsidies toward equitable #climatehealth investments.

Our social structure is not prepared to adequately address the growing challenges of disinformation and conspiracy narratives. We need coordinated & intentional educational programming to equip people with the tools needed for effective media literacy.

I've been thinking about how polycrisis is visually offered for sense-making and how we can communicate #polycrisis in meaningful, constructive ways in #climate work. I made this last week to help depict interconnecting polycrsis in a particular field. But what images are others seeing or using?

A cold snap is setting in. Ensuring safety and wellbeing takes collective community action and care.

Art, for me —in times of intense global strain—offers a tether to humanity, care, beauty, calm and clear headedness on how to keep working in service of shared needs and visions for collectively thriving communities.
How are we using art to build community and care amid pain and fear?
