Feel free to come to me with bird id questions! Keep in mind, I'm based in the eastern U.S. So, if you post a bird from another country, I'm gonna google. If you post from the western U.S., I'm better off, but still will probably have to consult my guides.

I offer three levels of id. ⬇️
I know everything is awful again today, so here have this:

Today's shenanigans. Also got to help teach some college students about bird banding! I'll make birders of them yet. (Birds handled under all appropriate permits.)

Mental health break:
1.) what is your favorite color?
2.) what is your favorite dinosaur?
3.) what is your go-to comfort food?
4.) attach your most used/favorite meme or gif.

One of my favorite literary characters is Wonko the Sane, and I feel he just gets more and more relevant all the time.

May I offer you another #bird? Remember, there's more where that came from!

My kids' father retired a few months ago from the Army after 22 years. Impeccable timing. 🤌

Speaking of #improv . . . let's see if I can bait any of my fellow improvisors on this app:

It was a hard holiday season. Last week I was really looking forward to my next level of improv class. I needed to be with my peeps again, but the weather had other ideas. Class was cancelled.

Today is try #2! I need this, especially since we're staring down the barrel of the gun that is tomorrow.

I try to not be one for sappy metaphors, but. . .

This flag in absolute tatters from Hurricane Helene, being flown at the house across the street, which is owned by a corporation using it as an Airbnb, just says a lot right now.

Like @rosemarymosco.com likes to say, winter is weird duck season!

It's made even more exciting by hybrids popping up! Check it.

Very important post.

We have an orange with a mohawk.

People tell me I need to make friends, so I went out and did that today. Didn't get his name, but he's super chill.

The Weather Channel better shut its mouth right now.

I know it's still too far out to really call the weather, but here in Hurricane Helene trauma land, this would be BAD for Augusta. Like, Helene part 2 bad.

In related news: I'm exhausted.

An Anhinga scoping me out. Still shocked he didn't fly off!

These have the nickname Snake Bird, because when they swim, only their long neck and thin head are visible above the water, looking like a snake.

Nobody does ennui quite like a bored beagle, in her hoodie.

If anyone out there wants to hire me, the best description of my talents is "Online admin fairy godmother/wizard". I have kept multiple organizations running smoothly, singlehandedly. They were volunteer or working in exchange for tuition for my kids, but I need money now.

Started getting notifications about new followers and got excited that I'd have more than 11 people following me. They were all bots. 😂😂😂😭😭😭

Next round of improv class starts tonight, and I am SO excited. The holidays were rough, and I have missed my people!

I'm sure I'll have my traditional anxiety attack beforehand, but I know it will be all good in the end.

Bird banding canceled for tomorrow due to possibly icy roads. Disappointed, but also kinda relieved. Being a Raynaud's Syndrome person, sometimes my hands get to the point where I can't handle the birds, and have to just be a scribe.

Scribes are important, but still. . .
