High school biology and ecology teacher. Loves cats and sharks and reading. Might lurk a bit, but I’m moving over here to avoid the bird site because… obvious reasons.
This is the exact metaphor I’ve been thinking of for the last couple of weeks. @democrats.senate.gov @kaine.senate.gov DON’T CAVE!!!!

My ask of any science enthusiasts who tell the story of Rosalind Franklin:
Don't make her life be about the DNA debacle. She died far too young, but she was a promising scientist in her own right, a mentor and scientific author.

Not for Watson or Crick, but for her legacy.

#NoKings in Fredericksburg, Va - I haven’t heard an official attendance number, but it was in the four digits!

Here’s a joke a former student told me today:

So if i find a rock hard biscut or sharpen the edge of a stale piece of bread, and attack someone with it, would it be classifíed as “assult with a breadly weapon“?

Ok #CatSky, let me tell you why this is the greatest photo I’ll ever take. I love cats, and sharks. We brought three of our cats (littermates) inside, and I named them: two tiger striped sisters, and a black and white brother. They’re named after the three main characters in Jaws - this is Quint.

Ok high school biology teachers, looking for some ideas. We’re getting ready to start our (relatively short) unit on photosynthesis and respiration - does anyone have any great activities that really help students get it? Especially looking for help for ESOL students. Thank you! #iteachbiology

PhD people: high school teacher here. Student is navigating her college acceptances. Long range plans are: after undergrad, go for PhD. She has a full ride to a non Ivy League school, but is waiting to hear about acceptances to Ivy League for undergrad. Thoughts on Ivy vs non-Ivy for undergrad?

@joshhayes.bsky.social just read through the thread you shared from Gail about rainy Wednesdays on the bird site, saw you were on here, so I’m following you here as well. Kudos - we all need more Municipal Code W742-302C in our lives. ❤️

Hello! I’m a high school science teacher in Northern Virginia in my 16th year of teaching! I’m interested in following and connecting with SciSky. I love cats and sharks (but not together), and I’m very glad that we’re finally starting to move into fall weather. #HiSciSky
