When Carney's first cabinet did not have a Minister for WAGE, my colleagues & I sounded the alarm that it was a huge 🚩; that he doesn't understand the importance of having gender based analysis.

Partisans called us hysterical.

Well, now we're looking at an 81% (!!!) budget cut.
‘It’s being levelled’: advocates worried about potential 81 per cent cut to Women and Gender Equality Canada’s budget by 2028
Women's advocates call the department's three-year forecast 'extremely shocking' and 'disproportional' for the small ministry. 'The level of support will be radically reduced,' says Katherine Scott, w...

So many of you were quick to paint me as a hysterical overreactor but my concern is shared by the broader women's & labour movements in Canada.

Numerous Groups like CRIAW, Action Canada, Women's Shelters Canada, CUPE, Canadian Women's Foundation & others protested the decision while at the UN. ⬇️

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

All these articles about Democrats moaning over their messaging issues make me tired.

You know what's more important than messaging? ACTION.

Don't TALK about the price of eggs.

Tell people "MEET US IN THE PARK - WE'RE GIVING OUT FREE EGGS. THAT'S RIGHT - FREE EGGS FROM THE DEMOCRATS!"

Like many, I'm anticipating that the Trump gag rule will drop soon, if not today. This is a deeply destructive policy that is responsible for increasing maternal mortality and reducing access to contraceptives and other sexual and reproductive health care.
