The freaking best

Yes, it’s definitely an encouraging sign!

No, it likely means your proposal received early concurrence by council and is now under admin review. It doesn’t tell you anything definitive about funding but it’s usually a good sign—at least in normal times. If you haven’t received one already, you can probably anticipate a JIT request.

@mcuban.bsky.social this is a long shot but my account is small & the losses to science are too great to not ask for favors. Please consider getting the word out about AHRQ & NIH funding cuts. We are losing a generation of scientists & American innovation. Thanks! 🤞🙏

It was awesome to see all of the support in person!

If you go to the tabbs document (don’t have the link on hand but search for it on BlueSky), you can search any of the award numbers in Reporter and see that their grant was ended early.

It’s set to be published in the register, I think.

I think the award/peoject end date for the grant is just updated.

Yes, it looks like ERA Commons updated previously canceled council meeting dates to the next cycle’s scheduled meeting across ICs. It’s unclear whether this update actually means anything.

There are only two ACs scheduled or to be scheduled in the FR right now, the rest are study sections.

The NEI advisory council was just posted for scheduling in the register, so it looks like it is happening. Not sure if that had any bearing on whether your proposal went up for early concurrence.

And one for the National Eye Institute

I was told by my PO that there is a reason it changed (though they didn’t confirm the status of my proposal or explain why), so it sounds like POs may be getting inconsistent info?

Jeremy, I know apps with study section concerns aren’t eligible for early concurrence, but do you know if > cap apps can still receive early concurrence?
March 19, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Oh my goodness don’t be sorry. We are all looking for a bit of hope. Good news is an AC will be posted tomorrow, so hopefully this is indication of more to come.

Possibly early electronic concurrence for some well-scoring grants? No way to know as far as I am aware, POs are understandably tight-lipped.
