During the week, visiting author Nadine Pinede discussed her 1st novel, a beautiful MG, WHEN THE MAPOU SINGS. Nadine attended Whole Novel on scholarship a few years ago. When visited, it was the first time she had the opportunity hold her published book. Speechlessly inspiring. (🧵3/4)

Fall updates: Third year at my SCBWI chapter’s conference! Extra fun this year on a gorgeous fall weekend at a new venue. Love spending time with and learning from supportive writers and professionals in the book industry. I always embarrass myself in silly group photos 🤭

From earlier this fall…writing with a view of the Kansas City skyline during my husband’s quick trip back to his hometown.

Cool - I didn’t realize I’d joined up so early! At the time I felt late to the party 😀

From a few weeks ago: Cozy and warm in my huge parka as I pick up my kids from ski school 😊. It’s a treat we gift them one weekend every year, since my husband and I never learned to ski. We love soaking up all the fun of the resort!

I’m mixing up my writing routine by changing where I work at times. Only just started, but I’m liking it so far. Anyone else do this? Do you have a favorite spot or try out different places?

Another milestone - I printed a full copy of my manuscript for one of my first beta readers. The folders are a short sample for the rest of my book club. I’m so grateful for their thoughts, this beta stage is just as tricky as all the others have been💜!

Settling in to new office. Nothing like a blank space pallet to inspire a new year of creativity. I’m especially loving the little writing friend I received for Christmas. Hoping her name comes to me soon 🐦💚🧡
