Happy 9th Birthday, Charlotte Grey! Your strength in the last year has challenged all of us. You are beautiful inside and out. What a privilege it is to be your mama. I love you, pretty!

“I was talking not long ago to a woman who came forward and told her story very heroically. And she said to me not long ago I would advise nobody to do that. She said because my life has been completely destroyed.”
Thank you, Dr. Moore & Dr. Langberg.

The days between Christmas and New Years are some of the best of the year because I feel zero obligation to do anything and zero guilt for doing nothing.

These days are for rest.

“A person might value vulnerable people in the abstract — or might even declare a strong commitment to justice — but very few people will sacrifice anything they truly value to correct an injustice that doesn’t involve them immediately and directly.”

Yes, people want justice — as long as justice costs them nothing or very little.

Just yesterday I had fantastic eye brows, knew all the current songs, and could sleep like a baby. Today I’m an insomniac who draws on eye brows and listens to stations like The Blend and Mom Jeans.

We had an obligatory event at my daughter’s elementary school tonight. Parents were given mini hand sanitizer wipes on a keychain. And the library had a table of complimentary books. Hand sanitizer & free books at a public school event make for a very Merry Christmas for moms.

My 92 year old Grandma passed away peacefully last night after a long battle with cancer. She recited Psalm 23 and then asked us to check her husband’s blood sugar. He was diabetic and passed away in 2018. What was on her mind as she passed into Heaven is a beautiful image of a life well lived.

The week of Black Friday is a great time to reflect and ask myself why I subscribe to so many email lists.

One silver lining of having divorced parents— celebrating Thanksgiving twice with my siblings, their spouses, my nieces and nephews.

What’s your favorite Christmas song/album & why?
Carpenters Christmas for me! Daddy pulled out his vinyl on Thanksgiving Day during the Macy’s Christmas parade and we listened to it while we decorated the tree. I can still see the 1980s Christmas tree tinsel each time I hear Merry Christmas Darling.

Since Christmas decorations are up + Thanksgiving is late this year + Black Friday specials are already available, what’s everyone doing next week?
