Recent lidar mapping and the documentation of 40 carved stone “monuments” (petroglyphs and boulders moved into place) reveals that the summit was a ritual locus devoted primarily to water and mountain deities, calendrical observances, and regional pilgrimage. 📷 TheDruid-3X3 More:

It is thought the first encampment was built during the Bronze age, modified a couple of times during the Iron age. The northern rectangular enclosure is most heavily defended, with massive drystone walls thrown up all around, particularly at the southern end, where the walling is up to 8m high.

Great! There are so few copies of The Old Stones in libraries (for some odd reason) that I can virtually track each one individually - particularly the ones in obscure places in the US - see here:
