💛

there’s so many examples people don’t think about

one of my faves is the whole light mode v dark mode thing.

like light mode can be used as an accessibility feature just like dark mode

and if you bully people out of using it, that’s ableist (whether you’re disabled yourself or not)

Treachery may have more than one explanation.

USAID is also a valuable and high-return source of American soft power.

Anyone interested in reducing US standing worldwide and creating gaps for our adversaries to move in would also applaud this shutdown.

Constant demands are made upon us to get on the front lines to uphold a status quo that statistically ends our lives prematurely.

Me? I'm energized by change but it *is* hard to fight for the right to be told I speak so well or that I'm one of the good ones by people who call my suffering normalcy.

Musk and Trump are gutting funding to programs that help counter malaria of which approx 95% of all global deaths are from the WHO African Region. Children under 5 accounted for 76% of all malaria deaths in this region in 2023. bsky.app/profile/agaw...
“Two-thirds of the staff of the President’s Malaria Initiative…the largest donor to anti-malaria programs…worldwide, have been fired…incl some of the most senior and respected scientists working on malaria control in the world.”

I oversaw global health programs at @USAID.

They reached 100s of millions of people, added 6 extra years to the lifespan of children in partner countries, and were eradicating health threats worldwide.

What insanity and cruelty to break that.
