Here The Washington Post Editorial Board treats Donald Trump ordering DOJ investigations of his political adversaries as a *political* misstep, never once so much as hinting that it is an *abuse of power*

One problem is that this posits a female Republican

Yeah, although there are a few weird edge cases in polycentric places like the Bay Area.

Yeah, a pure elite persuasion strategy seems to be the best play.

The problem with rent control is that it only helps incumbent residents, and doesn't do anything for those who want to move.

I share this ideal, but it's worth pointing out that as soon as reasonably cheap and fast international travel became technologically achievable, we locked this down pretty much instantly.

I never see anyone grapple with the very large administrative challenges of this. The state doesn't have an easy way to link your identity to your income!

Anything short of open borders is bigotry. I mostly keep this one quiet because it's so far from political reality that it's not worth talking about, but there's really no morally justifiable reason that I should be able to move to Utah, but a Guatemalan guy should not.

Honestly my concern is for the PM not keeling over dead or succumbing to psychosis

But there's really no way to punish them for that. I can unsubscribe from the NYT, or scream at their reporters on social media. I can vote in Democratic primaries. But what am I supposed to do about the GOP--vote against them harder? They don't give a shit about me, and have no reason to.

In the long run, what I'd like to see is a system where you need to tap a currently-valid drivers license in order to start a car. That way we'd always know who was driving, which would mean we could do things like assign points to camera tickets.

The bill only kicks in for red-light camera and speeding camera offenses; double-parking violations don't count. You can see for yourself at www.howsmydrivingny.nyc

Yup. Cameras for the day-to-day stuff, human cops for the people who try to evade the cameras.

The fact that this bill isn't a no-brainer that passes in minutes is depressing to contemplate, though.
