Here's a map of the vote on City of Yes for Housing last year--the commie corridor is solid green, and outer-borough moderates voted no. It's not a perfect correlation (cough Chris Marte), but the pattern is revealing IMHO

Dashefsky made plain that the course would not resolve every ambiguity of how to best or lawfully use a gun. “All these rules are situational.” Is it good or bad to use a safe to store a gun? “It depends.” A student asked how he’d respond if someone entered the classroom and menaced the group with a knife. “I’d shoot him,” Dashefsky said. “That doesn’t mean you have to.” He also made frequent jabs at New York’s politicians, whom he called “Mayor De Bozo,” “King Hochul,” and “Mam-commie.” The students took it in stride. The lecture was running deep into the lunch hour when Dashefsky reached a mandated section on the risks a gun poses to its owner. “We’re going to cruise through suicide prevention,” he announced, wrapping it 10 minutes later. Scientific research showing that people who have handguns are three times more likely to kill themselves went unmentioned.

Although Dorison’s AI startup is fully remote and he could be anywhere, he chooses to live in an Astor Place apartment minutes from a seemingly infinite array of performances, exhibits and other happenings. “No New Yorker feels like they have enough time to experience New York,” he says. “Every week you hear something that your friend did last weekend that you wish you had done.”

Define "a lot". How many people in NYC a) find the bus fare a significant burden and b) aren't already eligible for Fair Fares?

FWIW, the cost of the fare is one of the lowest-ranked priorities in the MTA customer survey, ranking well behind wait times and crowding. www.mta.info/document/163...

Citi Bike is also booming as it expands further into the city. When Adams took office in January 2022, there were 1,024,053 rides taken on the system during the dreary winter month. By January 2025, there were 2,123,801 rides taken on a Citi Bike, an astounding 107-percent increase in rides well outside of the peak season for cycling. But as people vote with their feet and their increasingly powerful calves, the city's own bike lane production hasn't kept pace — evidence that so many people want to get out there.

This is the key excerpt to my mind. The way back to normalcy is through consequences for everyone who caves to Trump.
The temptation to retain Trump’s methods — to turn his lawfare against Republicans and other domestic enemies — would be powerful. Several interviewees stressed the latter as one of the few lines that gets the attention of senior Republicans.
