It actually was a rightward shift, and started before the end of Trump’s 1st term. The right shift extends past gender issues. Here are polls showing a gender gap regarding race and the BLm movement back in 2019 & 2020.

Increasingly, there has been a gender gap regarding racism and xenophobia. During the 2020 BLM protests & even in other countries, a gender gap in recognition of racism was demoed. Since MOC face direct harm from racism, this gender gap is even greater regarding the dominant racial group. 3/x

I’ve noticed a gender gap on racism. Over the past 5 years or so, a few polls show women as more easily recognizing racism than men. I’ve also noticed the justification of police brutality, ICE raids, deportation, & racial vigilantism by men stating it’s needed to protect their communities/country.

Here’s an example of white men being associated with racist attitudes to the point where it has literally become memed.

The problematic part is the WW exempting herself from scrutiny on race, however WM have earned that scrutiny from everyone else.

Here are some stats regarding educated WW splitting from the rest of the American white population and gender gaps regarding taking racism seriously

The graphs accompanying the FT article are to the left, the graphs to the right are about gender gaps during Trump’s 1st administration regarding Trump’s (and American) racism.

This dynamic has been memed with regards to white women with racist boyfriends (see attached pic). Family members or “partners” walking away after bigotry directed at others isn’t always possible because bigots tend to also be abusive towards those in their orbit.

The gender divergence regarding racism in America started during Trump’s 1st term. During the summer of 2020, I remember women of all backgrounds linking George Floyd’s murder to both toxic masculinity & white supremacy.

Your observation is literally a meme. This was posted on The Other Site under a woman who tweeted she didn’t see Sinners the movie when it was still playing in the theater because her boyfriend didn’t like “black movies.”

This Canadian poll was taken in 2021 and is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. Men were 9% more likely than even WP & the only group more likely than not to believe racism was overblown in Canada. Women were as likely as non-Indigenous POC to believe racist wasn’t taken seriously enough.

And now, it looks like the reckoning (or lack thereof) regarding male entitlement is beginning to spill over to racial, national, ethnic, and religious oppression.

When the two groups furthest apart on racism & xenophobia are men & women, not the groups you’d expect them to be, there’s a problem.

There’s already a discussing about the California wildfires on the other site, started by Britons, where Americans are showing their butts in the comments.

I’m talking about Dennis Prager and others mainly as seen in the screenshot below. If they want to appeal to traditional male gender roles to justify vigilantism & police brutality, then the response to their normalization of the above has to be gendered & even feminist.

Dennis Prager (the man, not Prager U), portrays vigilantism as legitimate for cis men in this screenshot from The Other Place. I suspect a similar worldview is reserved regarding the place of violent police officers, with police brutality necessary for men to engage in our role as protector.

Male grievance extends to racism and white supremacy, IMO. The Latin community isn’t an exception. These polls from 2019 and 2020 show gender gaps in racist attitudes. Note how women were more likely than non-black people and men less likely than whites to believe either Trump or America was racist.

There are polls showing men as less likely than white people & women as more likely than non-black people to see Canada, America & Trump as racist. Men are being socialized by Joe Rogan, Elon Musk to racism as well as misogyny.
