Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen is gorgeous! Its the first time I’ve loved a book for its descriptions, although the worldbuilding, themes, pacing and characters are all really strong. #specfic #diversebooks #bookrecs

My retelling of The Ebony Horse from 1001 Nights. An inventor makes a flying horse and gives it to the caliph. What if instead of the prince stealing the horse, it was an enslaved woman escaping to freedom?
I felt stuck writing it as a short story, so I drew it instead. #illustration #arabiannights

When the Portuguese got back from sailing around Africa for the first time with all those spices from India… the spices were spoiled and they had to throw them out.
I find that very satisfying.

What do you do when you have so much research for your WIP that it would take weeks to explain but all your plot ideas feel like dried leaves?

So, I think it's time I begin, in detailed specifics, talking about the mess that is Unbound / Boundless as a book publisher, in essence stealing most of a years royalties from me and many other authors, as a result of poor financial decisions, and legal BS.

Please read and share this thread.

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty.

They say it can’t be done, but here we are, California is generated 106% of California’s entire state electricity demand from renewables.

California has a population bigger that 154 other countries around the world. It’s the 4th largest economy, in the world.

Let that sink in.

MAKE NOISE ON THIS ONE‼️

They didn’t just deport him—they sent him to CECOT in El Salvador.

Agelviz came here legally through the refugee resettlement program—fully vetted. But when he landed in Houston, CBP snatched him over a tattoo: a clock and a rose.

No charges. No record. Just a suspicion.

absolutely true.
In the circles they move in, angry liberals yelling at you is a mark of credibility. It's a status symbol, a kind of badge that shows you're savvy, one of the insiders. It's a perfectly insular, sealed, self-reinforcing worldview/industry.

Terrific and technically sound thread on a big advance in vaccine development. The work focuses on HIV but likely is more broadly applicable. Many years ago senior author, Bill Schief, started down this path as a postdoc with David Baker here at UW biochemistry. Thrilling progress on a hard problem!
THIS IS HUGE! TWO Phase I HIV vaccine clinical trials have demonstrated that a stepwise mRNA-based vaccination strategy can SUCCESSFULLY activate AND advance immune responses toward producing broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs), a CRITICAL milestone in HIV prevention. Let’s talk about that! 🧪🧵⬇️

Not gonna lie, I would love to see more hollow earth fiction. No pesky space suits or wavery magic doors appearing out of thin air. Just lots of manhole and digging jokes!
In seismology, the term for this is a USO: an Unidentified Seismic Object.

And perhaps if this discovery had leaked into mainstream news in the way potential alien biosignatures tend to do, we’d currently be seeing a big comeback for the HOLLOW EARTH ‘theory’.

Thankfully this wasn't the case.
