Actor, writer, singer, martial artist, bass guitar player, cat owner, avid reader, bullwhip student and swordsman. A surprisingly sophisticated country boy.
So three great writers, then.

To appropriate the old movie joke, who do I have to fuck to get off this show?

Thank God my son and I are well beyond the age where the draft would have us sent to Portland, or Seattle, or Chicago, or wherever.

And, even at half-power, the Who are worth seeing live. They've had a little drama re: their drummer, Zak Starkey, and there's someone else behind the kit now, but Roger sounds ageless.

They also completely owned the 9/11 gig that Paul McCartney put together. They destroyed nearly everyone else on stage. The Who were BACK on that gig. Same with the Royal Albert Hall shows in 2002, the last John did with the band. They owned the place.

5) They got fired up again in 1999 and kept touring with most of the original lineup until 2002, when John died. They've been at it ever since but, with a lead singer in his early 80's, I can let them go without a qualm.

2) The band reunited later in '85 for Live Aid, but delivered a bad set.

3) They came back together in '89 for their 25th Anniversary with Pete playing acoustic thanks to tinnitus having wrecked his hearing.

4) They didn't do anything until 1997 after that, touring Quadrophenia for charity

I should correct a couple of things, being a Who fan who's given you a false impression of things:

1) The band lost Moonie in 1978 and soldiered on by replacing him with Kenny Jones of the Small Faces. They called it quits the first time in 1982.

And leave us not forget Lash LaRue, either.

I think of them as the party of laws and orders: they want to make the laws, and they want us to follow orders. They really don't, as you said, care about anything else.
