It was written before the idea of the Trinity and so God did the sacrificing, Jesus was just a vehicle for that sacrifice and they were not one and the same.

John 3:16 is interesting here.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

In this telling it was God who sacrificed for the world. When you take it in a first century context it gets weird.

I haven't read the story but Star Trek: Strange New Worlds had an interesting take on the idea. One society there had the idea that the intense suffering of the one was better than the widespread suffering of the many. Where it gets interesting is in exploring the notion of free will of the chosen.

This is the thing that made me remember it years later when I started getting the emails; it was the first letter I received with international postage.

You only need one hit to pay for a lot of postage, though of course it's cheaper when there is no postage.

Those scams actually pre-date the the email version.

They used to get lists of small businesses in the US and snail mail the same thing. I received one in 1997 at a business I was working in.

I typically wear Hanro when I want something super comfy close to my skin. I also like Vuori.
