Sword and rapid aren't being run though because they're both basically make sblast impossible to run
January 5, 2026 at 2:54 AM
If sword or rapid was more standard, edit would be the better weapon to run
January 5, 2026 at 2:51 AM
Ngl the comments ive seen so far are extremely general things about the guns and not why theyre actually better in the current meta. Its simple sblast + bucket busted and pen combos better with both weapons compared to edit

Watch jp players
January 4, 2026 at 5:32 AM
There was only really me, mel0, chara, and kyo above that level and all of us either quit the game or aren't playing rn
January 4, 2026 at 5:31 AM
There is currently no dread players playing above div 3 level
January 4, 2026 at 5:29 AM
Dread d is too good of a main gun to put in bottom 10. Reminds me of 3-6 months after the release of vdread when people still believed it was bottom 10.

Unironically just watch choco, lobstar, rimaru, or melon to learn the game and learn the indepth mechanics and positioning of your weapon off feel. Watching quality gameplay over gameplay thats niche and more catered to you is better imo
January 3, 2026 at 8:13 AM
Going back to grand roll, watch them play dread in X like a year ago and now when they're actually grinding it. You can tell before they played it more like a painting bucket and now they play it like its own separate weapon entirely.
January 3, 2026 at 8:10 AM
What i think is you should get 1 player to watch and improve your fundamental understanding of the game, and one player to hard focus your weapon mechanics with. A lot of those gameplay videos are players that dont fully understand their weapons whatsoever
January 3, 2026 at 8:09 AM
Youre not wrong, this is probably the best you can get for most weapons. But id argue vods of a player clearly grinding a weapon is better than gameplay. Chocopero L-3 vods in s2 would be much more beneficial to understand the weapon as a whole as current L-3 gameplay imo
January 3, 2026 at 8:08 AM
Ironically Rapid pro for the longest time had 0 players until people actually started picking up the weapon.
January 2, 2026 at 6:43 AM
This only really works for like 80% of the community. Ik for me at least, dread didnt get any good vods to watch until grand roll started grinding out the weapon. Each season only like 30% of the weapons in this game even get 3k. If you play any mediocre weapon you aren't get vods

most people don't see dynamo in this way, but like the only value you get from a dynamo is the same value you'll get from something like heavy. it will deny space, and will only get kills if the opponent is stupid enough to run into it
December 18, 2025 at 6:30 PM
weapons like rp, explo, well, edit, heavy, dynamo cant really play back as much because they'll get 0 value. but you play around them as the opponent a very similar way for one reason or another.
December 18, 2025 at 6:28 PM
i call it a "fake" backline. it plays like a normal weapon (not pussy) except it functions the same way as a backline when the opponent needs to run into you.
December 18, 2025 at 6:23 PM
I dont know how to english, hopefully you got the point
December 18, 2025 at 4:54 AM
But that'd be difficult because getting data of low level players is impossible because nintendo stopped stat.ink from working unless you manually put games in which you can obviously bullshit
stat.ink -- Go Deeper, Have More Fun.
stat.ink saves and analyzes your Splatoon results.

You'd probably need a lot of data, but if you as a player could record your data in any way and present it to be (such as stat.ink when it worked); and people saw it as a valid form of proof of skill. Then people in lower levels could use it as a replacement.

Div is entirely based off results of you + 3 other players. If anything it accurately represents you as a player much worse than normal results; but I do find this concept to be a good idea.
December 18, 2025 at 4:48 AM
its bad for the 60% of the community that doesn't live in na 💀

Also ngl sos is 10x less competitive than any of these weeklies, sos is literally the issue in the scene being a point grinding tourney for everyone. No one loses points except the low levels cause everyone gains from groups
December 12, 2025 at 5:19 AM
Also btw I can assure you, no one is playing Baja or crobattle for a sq badge
December 12, 2025 at 5:15 AM
Notice how you go into sendou, the next week the only actual tourneys you "care" about are skill capped, Triton, the 2 weeklies i listed, and Wednesday having sos/pp for some reason
December 12, 2025 at 5:15 AM
The comp scene before sendouq had "slop weeklies" they just had a much less divided scene so it simply was better and felt like more people were in the scene. Cause like in my career from like div 4-1 I dont think i played a single team under div 6 because they just dont play normal tourneys
