It's not, we've come a long way, but it's still a small sector of the city they're allowed. Current zoning proposal going to city council is to permit them in R1 zones. We're the seventh highest percentage of the country zoned R1 so would be an exciting change

Downzonings often happen when a new type of infill construction becomes financially viable, neighbors object, and they get their elected officials to ban it. But when a law like Arizona’s puts a price tag on this option, it turns out voters don’t want to pay for the right to stop development.
