We are hope despite the times
I was fascinated to see one of these old-fashioned kind of step stools in the tenant break room of my office building, looking very new. I had no idea they were still being made because I don't think I've seen one since I was in school in the '80s.

Thelma Ritter as Stella in "Rear Window." Her down-to-earth presence nicely contrasts nicely against Grace Kelly's radiance. She wasn't a six time Oscar nominee for no reason

I bet there are three people who remember this movie, maybe even four

If it makes people feel better, here's a reminder of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics mascot, Izzy, eternal shame of this city.

On the other hand, our Paralympics mascot Blaze was an absolute triumph.

If I ever need an AI to assure me how handsome and smart I am, it's going to be this awesome little guy. Nice Dummy!

My Presidential campaign platform is Make America Wear Suits and Ties or Dresses to Baseball Games Again. No more denim workingman's trousers in public spaces!

I'll this (not my copy.) The first appearance of furry Hank McCoy, full of gloomy, atmospheric art by Tom Sutton and Syd Shores. I think we'd call it body horror today, as Hank panics, finding himself trapped in a monstrous form. It's a good short run, with appearances by Patsy Walker pre-Hellcat.

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

This is the best model sheet ever, for the notation that his tail does not grow out of his ass!

For the late Dave Cockrum's birthday, here are 4 pages of original art from Superboy 190, one of his earlier Legion stories before his redesigns started appearing. Inks by Murphy Anderson. I found these on an auction website, a good place to browse even if you can't buy.

Theiss molecules, like unstable molecules but for impossibly clingy 60s/70s sci-fi costumes. Named for the late, great William Ware Theiss of Star Trek fame.

Easily one of my all-time favorite supersuits. It's a timeless look and nothing's ever topped it for Mon-El/Valor/M'Onel.

Shout-out to the great retro design for Laurel Gand when she was filling in for Supergirl to prop up Silver Age continuity in V4.

C'mon, Toronto, win it for Don Mattingly's sideburns (R.I.P.)

These door rippers today have it so easy. I tried stealing a turntable out of a car one time and got stung like a bee.

I found a 1978 Book Club edition of one of my favorite King books for a good price - I've been wanting a copy for ages.

I feel a little self-consciously contrarian but I think I prefer the cut version originally published. And it works so much better with the original 1980 setting.

The reason MARTA rail service in Atlanta doesn't branch NW or extend further west is that's Cobb Co. They preferred to create their own system, and guess why?

The fear is still so great that even the modest public transportation service where we live was a hard sell because it might "bring crime" out here. Behold the latest in transportation for scofflaws.

I can't quite put it into words but that's like the guitar equivalent of a Heinz mustard packet. It can be made but it's a question of should it.

We got gifted tickets in the Delta 360Sky Club at the Braves game tonight. I can't believe people live like this. The nice lady just keeps bringing snacks and stuff.
