Have a look at MotelOne too, they’re nothing special but an ok price and well located to public transport and probably have a lot of accessible rooms.

Also these places calling themselves “Resort & Spa” and charging €200+ per night have rooms that look like you’re staying for a depressing conference in 1985? Not really the relaxing vibe I’m after.

I guess if the whole house was about to go up in flames then it would be a sensible thing to grab so you can prove you identity/travel still but it definitely didn’t occur to me in the moment.

Yes it does seem to be standard practise to have it on you for Germans although a law student friend once told me that there is actually no legal requirement to do so as many think.

No, he did then take my word for it on my address and DOB but he looked at me a bit sceptically 😂

But no, he actually had expected me to grab my Ausweis as I fled the burning building at 5:30am in my pyjamas. Of course some of my neighbours had thought to take theirs so I’m clearly not German enough just yet 😂
