My hobbies are, in order of acquisition, video games, books, board games, comics, card games, and now role playing games.

I'm currently learning to journal (offline), to see if I'm moving or stagnant water.
Also have gotten some more board game reps in!

Had a trip to Portland a few weeks ago, and it was both bitterly cold and warmly welcoming.

New copy of Dragons of Etchinstone arrived! As well as its expansions and the alt-art Felines of Fetchinbone. It'll be hard to put away my PnP FoF, but the cards feel great. Time to lose games while flying!

Went 2-1 at my TLA Prerelease!
Got the Toph pack and made a Jund deck (really mono-G splashing for removal), focusing on earthbending. Had a great time and pulled a promo Mai, who seems neat.

It's October somewhere! Go Kiké!

Spent an hour+ printing up the PnP version of Pandemic: Hotzone North America, and 13 minutes playing it for a quick win. Still, great fun and should be a quick breezy game.

Saying goodbye to Creampuff, 15 years old.

Posting my dog Creampuff cuz you never know how long you've got with your animals.

Had a pleasant afternoon yesterday, getting in a solo game of Heat, a quick round of A Gentle Rain, and later teaching a cousin Marvel Champions. So many games, so little time.

Went 3-0 at my MTG/Marvel Spider-Man prerelease!

Put together a Rakdos Mayhem deck and applied consistent pressure, going 2-1 over Rakdos, 2-0 over Azorius splashing B, and 2-0 over Esper.

Lots of exciting board games arriving and hiring the table recently!

Quacks is a hit with my relatives and light-midweight board game friends.

Heat continues to be tight and close 90% of the time, and the garage adds more player expression.

I'm playing regular Regicide to warm up for Legacy.

@duoleveling.bsky.social Hi! I was one of the chatters yesterday, and I think you had asked if my Fate of the Fellowship had arrived intact? Mine was all good; I spent a chunk of my evening assembling the dice tower, and aside from one slot not fitting cleanly, everything seems good to me.

Once again, Heat Pedal to the Metal shows how tight it can be.

Taught the game to 2 cousins with a practice lap, and then we switched to a new map.

Came down to the wire, with all 3 cars finishing the same round, within 5 spaces.

Played 2 games of Heat: Pedal to the Metal against automated Legend opponents, and I get it. The risk, the payoff, the mistakes, the tension, the slipstreams, and just trying to push your car(ds) to their limit.

Also got a bunch of games that I want to play, but haven't been able to get my group together to try them out. I'm the meantime I've been sleeving cards and looking into the solo modes.

Jammed a lot of Harmonies over the last 2 weeks. Great game, whether solo or in a group. I like the spatial aspect of everything, the planning, the drafting, the hubris, the fall. I won a game where I had 3 cubes placed after like 6 turns, and my opponents had 6 and 8 cubes placed.

@baileymeyers.bsky.social Hey, would you want a pair of Dodger tickets for Saturday or Sunday's game? I'd rather see these go to cool people than sell them to randoms.

Learned and played my first solo game of Ark Nova! Definitely a lot of little puzzly bits to figure out every turn. Took nearly 2 hours solo, so I'd imagine it would take longer with 2-4p. Still, it's an interesting intersection of tableau building, tile placement, and achievement hunting.

Weird side effect of using the same username for the last 18 years: people can recognize the username in the weirdest places.

I just saw "City Trial" and instinctively said "Yay" out loud.

Just when I thought my week wouldn't have many board game sessions, I got to play Quacks (with my upgraded pieces) and teach Citizens of the Spark!

@danryckert.com I remember you mentioning you enjoy logic puzzles, and my favorite for the last 2 weeks has been cluesbysam.com. They made it so that if you try to make a guess, it won't tell you if you're right or wrong, just that you logically can't select them as innocent or criminal yet.
Clues by Sam
A daily logic puzzle where you deduce who are criminals and who are innocent!

After years of midweight games, it's been nice to delve into some lighter games. I've gotten Sea Salt & Paper, Courtisans, and Azul all to the table this week, not to mention some solo plays of a Gentle Rain.

I did lose at Viticulture and Wondrous Creatures, though, so there's still big thinks.
