(15/?) Lots of love to the Concordia Health Clinic team and Dr. Hallman, who immediately sent me where I needed to be, and the team of doctors and nurses I saw at the JGH. Even though Quebec's bureaucracies are shit (& way underfunded) - our doctors and nurses are good.

(14/?) Now, I have another round of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to go through. (These antibiotics were brutal and the side effects so strong. They depleted all of the healthy bacteria in my system, as well.)

(13/?) I'm sent back to the ER for IV steroids, high dose antibiotics, and fluids because I haven't eaten in 24hrs. At this point, I haven't slept since Monday night. The nurse promises me she is going to get me out of there and back to my own bed before the rain starts to freeze. She kept her word.

(12/?) By 415pm, an ENT specialist is cutting my throat open from the inside, draining the infection, and cutting the abscess out of my throat. Yes, friends, I went from a sore throat a month ago to having a doctor take a scalpel and needles to my throat.

(11/?) I'm informed the abscess is growing quickly and I'm losing the ability to even open my mouth, there’s fear that the infection is in the muscle, and I’m losing my airway. I didn’t even make it to the nurse’s chair to get the IV before I’m sent upstairs.

(10/?) I get to the JGH around 245pm, and by 4pm, I've seen a lovely doctor who immediately tells me she’s going to give me IV steroids, tramadol for pain, and IV fluids, and will send me up to the ENT.

(8/?) She takes the time to explain everything to me, writes me a VIP must-be-seen immediately note for the hospital ER, gives me a free taxi coupon, and sends me to the Jewish General Hospital.

(7/?) I go back at the appointed time, and the Concordia doctor sees me and immediately says, "You need to go to the ER you have an abscess that's starting to close up your throat. You'll either need IV antibiotics or surgical intervention.”

(5/?) As I'm the next person to be called they announce they have no walk-in spaces left. The receptionist calls me & sees the absolute look of desperation in my eyes. I tell her I’ve been trying to see a doctor anywhere & I couldn’t sleep Tuesday night because I was choking on mucus if I laid down.

I tell her I’ve been trying to see a doctor anywhere & I couldn’t sleep Tuesday night because I was choking on mucus if I laid down.
(4/?) My sore throat clears up—or does it? I finished the antibiotics on Saturday, and on Tuesday morning, I woke up with a tickle in my throat. By Tuesday night, my throat is swelling shut. Yesterday morning (Wednesday), I go to the walk-in clinic at Concordia, thinking I need more antibiotics.

(3/?) A few days later, my sore throat returns & within a day, my throat is completely swollen and feels like I’m swallowing razor blades. I go to the doctor and get diagnosed with strep throat. I get a round of steroids for the swelling & 10days of antibiotics, and I took everything as prescribed.
