(but yes I think there was a reason they couldn't give away those particular lasers fast enough, to the point that I ended up in the emails)

Weird how that works - there's a lot more to laser than average power? Who woulda thought...

The other advantages of the small RF source I went with are primarily that it isn't 2.5m long, and it doesn't have a 60kV power supply in close proximity to fragile water cooled parts.

they switched to much more reasonable but $$$ sources, of course. And I decided that I really didn't need that much laser (and a killer HV power supply) around, since my only project that needs 10.6um only wants 10W or so, but really cares about good power control...

This project was made much much easier with two new features we're shipping in Rhino 9 - totally revamped curve rebuilding/refitting and a much more flexible patch command! Super happy with my colleagues' work!
