Spent the weekend at @latimesfob with my kids & my kids’ book #YIMBY. Had a lovely weekend, although I’m still sad that there were a few naysayers who felt the need to speak up when they saw my kids’ book is about ending homelessness.

Oooh it’s super fun! Enjoy!! I went with my friend last summer and it was great! (I captioned the alt text.)

Happy 37th birthday to My Friend’s Place, the homeless youth program that helped me so much when I was a teen!

Pics: 19yo me with my first baby at the MFP Christmas party, and a pic of us visiting my mom around the same time.

#YIMBY folks!

Guess what! You can join our annual hunger challenge and help #KidVengers soar above the other teams at the same time. Also, I’m giving away a free copy of my picture book YIMBY if you donate to my fave homeless youth program (see below).

Let’s go #KidVengers! #HCWvsHunger

Check out this beautiful picture from my kid’s book YIMBY. It’s about ending homelessness. This page shows a young woman with hopes and dreams.

She’s me. When I was a homeless teen. With hopes, dreams, & hunger.

Donate to MFP, get a copy! See details below:)

And if you’re looking for somewhere to donate for @hcwvshunger.bsky.social —- trust me, they do great things. Here are a few pics from today’s awesome meal. Happy volunteers, staff, and board members in these pics, and the youths were smiling too. ❤️

At my first #SleepOut with Covenant House Los Angeles.

It feels super weird to sleep outside with a sleeping bag. And layers. Like, I’m warm. But I didn’t have all this gear when I was on the streets back then.

Finished 7 nights and stopped by my favorite chocolate store before heading home. Sometimes it’s the little things that keep me going. I let myself look forward to that mocha all week. :)

My son volunteered with me, which is always a treat. We both hugged the director multiple times because Heather is awesome. I was also fortunate to be able to present her with a check for 2k for a fundraising campaign in June (all my memoir sales for the month). What a beautiful day.

Spent the day volunteering at my favorite homeless youth program, My Friend’s Place. We had our 3rd annual Pull Up event and it was awesome! There were stylish haircuts, silkscreening, a photo booth, amazing food from a local Black owned business, & a special dance performance from Tommy the Clown.
