Looks great, right? Well, there's one problem - It's bisected by I-5. It's kind of trivial to bike between the two, but the walking situation is quite bleak: An undecorate freeway underpass buffered by two parking lots.

Surely, there's got to be a better option?

Here's a part of North Seattle. Green is nice parks where people like to walk. Yellow are thriving neighborhood-level commercial districts. Red is light rail with connections to university district, downtown, and northgate (regional shopping)

But they do have one of Seattle's popular BRT routes (the city's busiest line), they're building a light rail stop a mile away, a lot of vacant space in a city that's growing rapidly (+100k/10 yrs) and building rapidly (+250k permitted units 2013-2022)

It was a poor, but not desperately poor neighborhood. In Scotland you'd call it The Schemes.

There's a lot of traffic, but not many sidewalks.
