It was a song related to the actions of two right wing LA politicians, Councilman Paul Lamport and Supervisor Ernest Debs, who opposed gay people, hippies, and rock music. Launched police riots against rock musicians on the Sunset Strip. Both ultimately were driven from office. #GetInspired

In 2006, Karen Bass lost her only daughter, unborn grandchild & son-in-law in a fluke car accident. She persevered through that unthinkable tragedy anyway. So, IMHO, Bass can smile all she fucking wants.
