FYI your Bluesky handle in your YouTube description & profile is wrong (maybe an old one you changed?)

I feel it personally when even with my high-paying job it was hard to afford a house. Then I think about how fortunate I am and wonder how the average person is supposed to afford anything.

So I think there's a selection bias in geography that doesn't apply to, say, the average highly paid doctor.

As one of those pro-housing programmers, I'm not saying this is the complete answer but:

The cities with the most acute housing shortages tend to be ones where tech exploded, leading to an influx of high-paying jobs, but housing supply couldn't keep up.

Gave up after ~1 hour and got a Lyft, but it appears to have finally made it one stop north to Roosevelt. My advice is take any option other than the train.

Currently in a Lyft (first time ever commuting by rideshare) for exactly this reason. Their service disruption still doesn't include anything indicating how bad it is.

FYI to anyone else reading, the delays are significantly worse than this. Currently spending >10 minutes at every single stop, taken about 50 minutes to get from Symphony to U District.

Mayoral Candidate Katie Wilson: "People are going to keep moving to our region, and we need to plan for that growth. So I'm here to urge you to adopt a strong Comprehensive Plan that allows for more housing in neighborhoods throughout our city."

Yep. Getting the number too low *or* too high is a risk.

The outcome I'm more worried about is trees are overvalued (or alternatively, the opportunity cost of keeping some trees is undervaleud), which makes it look impossible to do anything that involves removing a tree.

Agreed in principle, but I'm curious about the math they use to get to their number (in the hundreds of millions of dollars). Getting this number wrong could lead to very harmful policies (charging thousands of dollars in fees to remove a single tree).

Please elaborate 👀

Speaking for myself, I love it here, and I want it to get even better. I love the positive actions our council is taking. But I want people to be able to live in whatever neighborhood they want, whether that's Seattle, Shoreline, or elsewhere.

... and now we're both fighting to make Shoreline more welcoming, affordable, and walkable. So that our story doesn't play out the exact same way where people get pushed out to Lynnwood then Everett then etc. etc. until we're clear cutting more forests...
