Tbh I also need to shout out @chillsubs.bsky.social who I just found out has a Bluesky. I’d be nothing without them.

Heavily recommend the @barrelhouse.bsky.social Conversations and Connections conference in DC. I’ve attended the last 3 years and it’s consistently inspiring and helpful.

HUGE shout out to Open Ceilings and Chill Subs - both of whom have yet to make the transition from the other site to here - and thanks to the wider community of writers both here and there for the inspiration and encouragement.

Overall, it was an interesting experience.

Also, just getting used to this strange site. That picture of the cover came out huge! Do people post threads here?

Essentially, readers love a famous writer's best works but refuse to struggle with their more ambitious, but less perfect ones. This may be a cop out but it is exactly how I felt reading this beast. At times, in awe of its workings, others confused at how this could be a classic.

His literary executor closes the book with a quote from one of the story's characters (who happens to be losing his mind) saying "bookish pharmacists are afraid to take on the great, imperfect, torrential works, books that blaze paths unknown."
