A Ukrainian friend once said, “Brooklyn hipsters are like little Babushkas - they pickle their vegetables, knit their own sweaters, and eat tinned fish.” And I think about that like twice a month.

It’s out!

Come for the ketamine and human shit, stay for a love story and a guy who can’t get it together.

Thanks again to Jeff @stanchion.bsky.social and everyone at @barrelhouse.bsky.social who put on an amazing conference every year.

Excited for more!

Made my first human currency for writing fiction today. It was only $5 but worth much more than that to me!

Excited to say that my next piece will be published as an Elegant Variation at @stanchion.bsky.social.

Thanks to Jeff at Stanchion and @barrelhouse.bsky.social for connecting Jeff and I.

One of my favorite posts of all time.
This is how you become a writer: just pick one of the things that is deeply wrong with you. Make it a character. Now send it on a self-help journey or try to kill it. Now call it a book.

The journal that accepted one of my stories has folded. Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any thoughts on what I should do?

Incredible to receive my first short story published in print today. In January, I resolved to find someone who would print any combination of words anywhere. I could have hardly imagined being published in 3 different publications! Thanks to the writing community I’ve found here! Here’s to 2024!

Yesterday I finished Bolaño's 2666, the first book of his I've read, and I have never experienced a book I deeply loved at points and absolutely despised at others. At different moments, I was enamored with its craft, angry at its prose, pissed that I still had to read it, and then the opposite.

Found an incredible community of writers on that other site right before it was lit on fire. Hoping to connect with that same group of authors here as well.
